Special Instructions for Transport of Specimen
  • For double / triple marker test (II trimester), screen analysis will be possible only between 14 and 22 weeks of gestation.
  • For triple test and double marker test following details must be provided- date of birth, LMP, USG finding of patient, h/o diabetes, smoking, Down’s syndrome in mother, weight of the patient.
  • For coagulation assays like PT / PTT confirm if patient is taking any medicines / drugs, then note down the names and doses. Confirm if patient is suffering from any other disorder like thrombosis etc.
  • In the tests like VMA, metanephrines, and 17 ketosteroids, 10 ml of glycial acetic acid should be present in the 24 hrs urine collection container.
  • All other urinary (24hr / spot) assays like urinary calcium, albumin, creatinine, uric acid, calcium do not need preservatives.
  • Only urine copper requires thymol crystal as preservative.
  • Cut off time for all CLIA will be 1.00 p.m. and the reports will be given only in 2 days in case of ELISA Tests.
  • Specialized tests requested and not done in our lab are sent to standardized accredited referral laboratories. Directory of services for the same is available at the reception.
  • Kindly fill the consent forms for HIV testing

Additional Considerations:

  • Results may be withheld for critical value retesting.
  • Cut-off time is the time the specimen sample reaches MediCheck lab
Special Instructions for Histopathology Sample Transportation
  • Totally immerse each specimen in a tightly secured container with 10 % neutral buffered formalin.
  • Use a separate container for each specimen (do not force a large specimen into a small container).
  • Formalin volume to the specimen should be 10:1.
  • Label each container (not the lid) with the patient’s name.
  • Source of the specimen is mandatory.
  • Only one histopathology test requisition is needed per patient.
  • The form should contain patient’s DOB, gender, clinical Information and anatomic source of tissue.
Sample Instructions for Second Opinion Test:
  • Paraffin blocks & slides with appropriate clinical history and copy of Original Histopathology Report so as to match up with the PB belonging to the same patient or not/site of the biopsy / tissue.If only stained slides are submitted, some representative slides will be retained for lab records.

Note: TAT in histopathology differs with the complexity of the case and may take longer than the usual 4-5 working days after we receive the sample at MediCheck lab.

Special Instructions for Semen Collection Instructions:
  • Entire specimen should be collected inside the container. Avoid any spillage outside.
  • Do not use any soap or detergent for masturbation.
  • Do not collect specimen in Condoms (Since powder or lubricant applied to condoms may be spermicidal).
  • If any part of the specimen is spilt outside the container, inform the laboratory

Transport: Preferably immediate / within 30 minutes of collection if sample is collected at home. (Do not store in refrigerator. Keep at R.T. 20-30°C)
